From Kimberly A. Watson, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility chief: I wanted to share this quote by Carl Rogers: “We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.” Listening to understand is a critical factor in changing workplace culture because we genuinely focus on what is being said, not just waiting for the other person to stop talking so we can respond or worse yet interrupting. I encourage you to take a few moments to watch this short video entitled “Empathy”.
