2022 Dayton Veterans Day Parade

COVID-19 Booster Clinic: On Friday, Dec. 9 from 1 to 4 p.m., the Medical Center will be holding a walk-in clinic for the one-time bivalent omicron booster. *Only the COVID booster will be available at this clinic.* This is open to all active duty members, all WPAFB employees and TRICARE beneficiaries ages 12 and over. Booster doses will be administered in the Medical Center Auditorium on the basement level. Please present with your military/government ID and your COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card so that we may update your record.

COVID-19 Testing: Testing for the COVID-19 virus can be found at the Outpatient Clinic Entrance/MRI Entrance of the Medical Center. Testing is still administered as a drive-thru service. Upon arrival, call 937-257-0511, and one of the team members will come to your car. Appointments are required for COVID-19 testing. They can be made by calling 937-257-SHOT or by using the TRICARE Online (TOL) portal. In addition, at-home COVID-19 tests are available for TRCIARE beneficiaries at no cost. In order to pick up an at-home test kit you must make an appointment through TOL. Pick-up of the tests is also located at the outpatient entrance. Hours are 8 a.m. to noon.

Flu Vaccine/Flu Fast Track: The Immunizations Clinic is still running its Flu Fast Track for all TRICARE beneficiaries ages 18+. The Fast Track is located within the clinic and is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during normal duty days. Patients under 18 should check in at the main Immunizations Clinic desk, as opposed to using the Fast Track. You should not make an appointment in PEDS to receive a flu shot. The high-dose flu vaccine for age 65+ has also been received and is available. As a reminder, it is mandatory for active duty members (deadline Dec. 15) and healthcare workers to receive the flu vaccine.

The CFC cause this week is Giving Tuesday/International Volunteer Day: It’s Giving Tuesday Week! Giving Tuesday is a charitable response to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, founded over ten years ago. Today, it’s the world’s biggest giving day of the year, with an estimated $3 billion+ pledged to help charities fulfill their missions to better our communities, nations, and world. For the thousands of CFC charities, this is the most important time of the year. They rely on generous donations made this week to, in some cases, fund the entire upcoming years’ worth of services they provide to beneficiaries. Your gifts make it possible for them to budget and determine the scope of their upcoming and ongoing programs.

Civilian Health Promotion Services -November 30 to Dec. 6: CHPS is offering FREE Cardiac Risk Profile screenings (Glucose/Cholesterol) and Observe Skin Analysis screenings to DoD Civilians only, body composition screenings (Bodpod/Inbody) and blood pressure screenings to DoD Civilians and Active Duty personnel. The Wright-Patt Hockey Club drop-in hockey sessions every Friday from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at the Kettering Ice Arena (2900 Glengarry Road, Kettering, OH) starting Sept. 23. It is a non-checking, adult drop-in (no score-keeping or referees) and all skill levels are welcome. Cost is $20 per session and USA Hockey membership is required. Exchange Gift Wrapping – Every weekend until Dec. 24: Looking to raise funds for your unit’s holiday party? Your Wright-Patterson Exchange Main Store is hosting a gift-wrapping station this Holiday Season for base organizations to collect donations. We provide the table and supplies – just show up and wrap! Slots are held in three to four hour intervals every weekend from Nov. 12 thru Dec. 24. Groups may sign up for more than one time slot. Air Force Band of Flight Concert Setup: Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. to noon. We’re requesting for volunteers to help out the Air Force Band of Flight setup for their winter concert. Base Tax Center volunteers needed - The Wright-Patt Tax Center will be open for limited services during the upcoming tax season. This year, it will only be available for senior airmen and below in the enlisted ranks, as well as first lieutenants and below among officers.

Volunteers will become certified tax preparers after passing a certification test and completing an IRS online program. The training will be held via ZoomGov, and will last 5 days. In 2022, the Tax Center netted about $113k in federal and state refunds for 45 Airmen and their families as part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and saved them over $32,000 in tax-preparation fees.

2023 Air Force Marathon Registration is open for the 27th Annual Air Force Marathon. The 27th Annual Air Force Marathon will be held on September 14-16, 2023. September 16th events include full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 3-person relay, Fly! Fight! Win! Challenge, and Finish Line Festival at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. The Health & Fitness Expo will be held on September 14th and 15th at the Wright State Nutter Center with the 5K on the 15th. History and Heritage Race Series: November – The featured Aircraft for November is the C-47 Skytrain. Sign up now to receive the featured aircraft swag! Virtual Registration is Still Open! Space Force T-Minus 10-Miler: December 10, 2022 – Register for the inaugural event here today (virtual only)!
