WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – An Area A road realignment was completed in early November, concluding a yearlong project to help ease projected traffic congestion near Wright-Patterson Medical Center.

“This project has been a long time coming,” said Brady Klein, 88th Civil Engineer Group civil engineer and project manager. “It was needed for the future development of Area A and provides a much safer, more efficient way to get around that area of base.”

Work included construction of a new portion of Locust Street. The project commenced in November 2021.

Over the past year, crews extended Locust Street from one-third to three-quarters of a mile. They also repaved Spruce Way and Estabrook Road, improved stormwater drainage throughout the site, and added a new traffic light at the intersection of Locust Street and Spruce Way to assist in orderly movement of vehicles near Kittyhawk Pharmacy and Gate 12A.
