Coffee with a Cop

MHS GENESIS: The Wright-Patterson Medical Center will be implementing a new electronic health record on June 3, 2023. TRICARE beneficiaries should do the following in preparation for MHS GENESIS:
1. Update all contact information on DEERS
2. Create a DS Logon.
3. Review the features of the patient portal. The Patient Portal will replace TRICARE Online.

Pharmacy Services: After receiving a new prescription from an on-base provider, try the Q-Anywhere Activation Process – text “Get in Line” to 877-909-2578 and follow the steps. For prescription refills or to activate a new prescription from an off-base provider call 937-656-1656 before making the drive to the Kittyhawk Pharmacy. As we get closer to the implementation of MHS GENESIS, we recommend that prescription refills get filled as early as possible to avoid longer than normal wait times.

COVID-19 Testing: Testing for the COVID-19 virus can be found at the Outpatient Clinic Entrance/MRI Entrance of the Medical Center. The test currently being used is the rapid fire test which is a combination test for COVID, Flu and RSV. Testing is still administered as a drive-thru service. Upon arrival, call 937-257-0511, and one of the team members will come to your car. Appointments are required for COVID-19 testing. They can be made by calling 937-257-SHOT or by using the TRICARE Online (TOL) portal. Hours are 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. on normal duty days (subject to change)

National Museum of the U.S. Air Force tours: Women in the Air Force The Women’s History Month committee is teaming up with the NMUSAF to offer three ways to view exhibits featuring women in the Air Force.

Interested in being a Defense Courier?: Duties within the Courier Division range from line-work couriers dedicated to mission planning, customer coordination, and material distribution to the high end of the spectrum as our Career Field Manager (USAF/E-9). Call for volunteers to assist with Sexual Assault Awareness & Prevention Month (SAAPM) events. March 31 – Denim Drive Donation Bins Distribution. April 4 from noon to 2 p.m. - What Were You Wearing Exhibit Setup. Volunteers will help set up the USO for the exhibit.

May 1 – Denim Drive Donation Bin Pickup. Volunteers can assist by picking up and returning donation bins/boxes to the SAPR office anytime on Monday, May 1. Bins will be located at various locations around base (Areas A and B) and further details will be provided to volunteers at a later time.

Brand New Event - Museum Mile: The inaugural Museum Mile is set for Thursday, May 11th, 2023 where an open race, women's elite, and men's elite race will take place at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in celebration of their 100 years! This one mile course winds through the grounds of the museum before finishing under the wing tips of historic aircraft at the Air Park. Tailwind Mascot Tryouts: We are looking for energetic, interactive, and engaging volunteers! Tryouts for our mascot, Tailwind, will be held on Monday, March 27th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Wright State University Nutter Center. The online application must be submitted and you will be contacted with more information prior to tryouts. If you are trying out for Tailwind, we recommend you bring along someone who can act as your handler so they can also learn how to help you get in and out of the costume. Blue Streak Time Trial - 25 Years Cycling: The Blue Streak Time Trial 10-mile loop course takes cyclists on a scenic route around Wright-Patterson Air Force Base the second Tuesday of each month from April through October. Registration for the April event is now sold out and registration for the May event will open on April 12th here. All Blue Streak Time Trial events are open to the public. USO Wright-Patt is now open on weekday evenings until 8 p.m. Volunteers needed to fill evening shifts! The WPAFB USO center is now open Tues thru Sat until 8 p.m. This includes the center café, game room, and all amenities. Service members and family members – stop by for a snack and a beverage, or to use our Wi-Fi, CAC-enabled computers, or gaming consoles. Come build connections or take a break at the USO!

To keep the USO center open with extended hours, we need to grow our roster of volunteers available to work evening shifts between 5 to 8:30 p.m. Do you have an evening free after work? Sign up to volunteer at volunteers.uso.org or stop by the center anytime for a chat. We’d love to have you join our team. The minimum commitment is one shift per month. Survival: The Exhibition is NOW OPEN: Come see what all the talk is about at this new special exhibit! Adventure awaits museum visitors of all ages with this new exhibit offering an interactive, informative and safe place to learn and test essential survival skills. This exhibit is FREE and will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The FREE exhibit culminates in an optional   Adventure Zone Zip Line and Ropes course that will be accessible with the purchase of an Attractions Ticket from the Air Force Museum Foundation, this additional experience will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. Museum Closure TODAY: The museum will be closed on this day for Emergency Management Response Training (rescheduled from January). The museum campus will be closed throughout the day, but we will re-open at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 16.

Plane Talks March 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in honor of Vietnam Veterans Day: Interact with various subject matter experts stationed in the Southeast Asia Gallery near the aircraft or exhibit that relates to their expertise.
