CCR receives major grant to study health information initiative

7/7/2011 -  WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio  -- The Air Force Institute of Technology's Center for Cyberspace Research has received a major research grant to study ways to more effectively manage health information.

The $4.1 million award from the TRICARE Management Activity to support MHS Cyberinfrastructure Services partnering with the Force Health Protection and Readiness Pacific Joint Information Technology Center in Maui, Hawaii, to leverage the latest advances in technology in support of the Electronic Health Record, Federal Data Center Consolidation Initiative, and other national health initiatives.

As lead technical consultant, CCR will provide subject matter experts in operational research modeling and simulation activities. They will also give consultation support to the Air Force Research Laboratory, Directed Energy Directorate on modeling support with respect to technical and facility requirements. The Directed Energy Directorate will be hosting MCiS's modeling and simulation facility at its Maui High Performance Computing Center, known as the Pacific Operations Datacenter.

CCR, as part of the Graduate School of Engineering and Management at AFIT, is tasked with graduate education and research in security, network analysis and performance. CCR has been designated as the Air Force Cyberspace Technical Center of Excellence, an NSA/DHS Research Center of Excellence, and a National Science Foundation CyberCorp center. CCR supports cutting-edge graduate research through partnerships with a myriad of agencies.
