2/15/2013 - WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Dr. Robert Williams of the 711th Human Performance Wing (711 HPW) Human Effectiveness Directorate (RH) was selected to receive the 2013 American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Engineer of the Year Award in the category of Technical Excellence.

The AIAA is comprised of 35,000 individual members and 90 corporate members who make up the world's largest technical society dedicated to global aerospace. Recipients of the Engineer of the Year Award are AIAA members who have made an individual contribution in the application of scientific and mathematical principles leading to a significant accomplishment or event worthy of AIAA's national or international recognition.

As the winner of this prestigious award, Dr. Williams was selected for his engineering of an agile, all-source data fusion system for national security. He was also recognized for his leadership of an innovative, high-impact, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) outreach program. It is through this work that Dr. Williams has made an enormous impact on the 711 HPW, RH, and the Dayton STEM community.

Dr. Williams will accept the award at a 2013 AIAA conference and will also be recognized by his AIAA chapter, Region III, at a local Honors and Awards banquet in May.
