Wright-Patterson offers shelter from Hurricane Irene
8/31/2011 - WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB, Ohio -- More than thirty aircraft from bases across the eastern seaboard flew to Wright-Patterson Aug. 27 and 28 to avoid the wrath of Hurricane Irene.
An inland location and plenty of parking space makes the base an ideal location to protect Department of Defense assets. Members from the 88th Air Base Wing prepare and train every hurricane season to support a wide variety of aircraft and their crews.
