4/3/2013 - WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Department of Defense contractors are invited to attend an open house and tour of the Air Force Institute of Technology April 16 and 17.
Representatives from the Graduate School of Engineering & Management, School of Systems & Logistics and the Civil Engineer School will showcase teaching facilities, world-class labs and describe programs and opportunities to prospective students.
This is the second event of its kind to be sponsored at AFIT since approved legislation has paved the way for defense contractors to enroll in AFIT's graduate degree programs. The legislation, passed more than a year ago, was initiated by U.S. Rep. Michael R. Turner.
Since its inception, 30 individuals from more than a dozen contracting companies have enrolled in various programs. Soon, defense industry employees will be able to enroll in AFIT's professional continuing education programs as well.
The event will begin with a welcome and overview provided by Dr. Todd Stewart, AFIT director and chancellor, followed by tours of the AFIT facilities. Deans and representatives from AFIT's three schools will describe programs and the specifics of enrollment.
A special presentation, "The Important Role of Defense Contractors -- A Warfighter's Perspective" will be given by a faculty member who is also an improvised explosive device blast survivor.
For registration and details on the event, visit www.afit.edu/openhouse. Those interested in attending will need to RSVP online. Once registration is completed, individuals will receive directions on how to access WPAFB and parking accommodations.
