Sexual Assault Prevention and Response

The Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Sexual Assault Prevention and Response team administers training and services across multiple units, including the 88th Air Base Wing, Air Force Materiel Command and several more including over 100 tenant units. The WPAFB SAPR program provides top-level support to WPAFB personnel by executing policies established by the Department of Defense and providing leadership and tools to effectively support victims of sexual assault. 

Mission

To provide assistance, advocacy, support, and empowerment to those whom have experienced sexual assault and harassment and to prevent sexual violence in our community through education and intervention.

Sexual Assault is defined as intentional sexual conduct, characterized by use of force, physical threat or abuse of authority or when the victim does not or cannot consent. Sexual assault includes rape, nonconsensual sodomy (oral or anal sex), indecent assault (unwanted, inappropriate sexual contact or fondling), or attempts to commit these acts. Sexual assault can occur without regard to gender or spousal relationship or age of victim.

Consent shall not be deemed or construed to mean the failure by the victim to offer physical resistance. Consent is not given when a person uses force, threat of force, coercion or when the victim is asleep, incapacitated, or unconscious.  

Victim advocacy services for sexual harassment

Available to military members who have experienced sexual harassment. Allows one to make a report of sexual harassment through an unrestricted or restricted reporting option with the SAPR office.

Eligibility: Active-Duty Airmen, Guardians, and Reservists Air National Guard (ANG) members are eligible in a federalized status. ANG in a non-federalized status (Title 32/State Active Duty, etc.) will follow National Guard Bureau guidance. Individuals who report sexual harassment to SAPR will be eligible for advocacy services and a one-time consult with VC.

This victim advocacy option does not replace the EO complaints process.

If you have been the victim of sexual assault, remember...

  • Never hesitate to get help.
  • You don't have to be alone.
  • The assault was NOT your fault. You did not cause it to happen.
  • We are here to help you and your family members.
  • There is no "right way" in dealing with a sexual assault. It is okay to be angry.
  • Evidence can still be collected up to 5 days after the assault.
  • There are resources available from both on and off base helping agencies.
  • The SAPR office is here to help you find out your options and utilize the services available to you.
