Fact Sheet – 88 ABW/PA Security and Policy Review
Purpose
Before any information is publicly released, it must undergo a Security & Policy Review (S&PR). This process protects sensitive information while supporting the Department of the Air Force’s commitment to transparency.
What Requires S&PR?
Any material mentioning the DAF, DoD, or other government activities intended for public release. Examples include, but not limited to:

Briefings, Speeches & Presentations

Theses & Dissertations

Technical Papers & Manuscripts

Photos & Videos
Review Timelines: Plan Ahead
Plan for these minimum timeframes. Timelines begin once a complete package is submitted to Public Affairs. Exceptions are granted only in rare circumstances.

Local Review. Allow at least 10 duty days.

Elevated Review. Allow up to 60 duty days for topics requiring higher headquarters or inter-agency reviews. IAW DAFI 35-101 Ch. 9 and AFMAN 35-101 Ch. 8, please review:

AFRL & AFLCMC: Personnel must use their respective S&PR process
Who must submit

All Air Force and Space Force military and civilian personnel, including Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve personnel on active duty, who release material related to their active-duty assignment, retired military members, and former Air or Space Force civilian employees will use this review service to ensure DOD-related information released to the public is consistent with their requirement to safeguard classified material.

Software
Do not send the code with the request. Submit a statement that fully addresses: Description, function and use of the software; potential end-users; programming language, operating system, network architecture or other relevant features; DoD program, system or product related to the software. Air Force Information Protection officials may request the software code be submitted separately
