88th Air Base Wing Social Media Fact Sheet

 
Welcome to the official social media platforms of the 88th Air Base Wing! These platforms are designed to share news, updates, and engage with our community. To ensure our channels remain professional, respectful, and aligned with Air Force standards, we have outlined the following guidelines based on Air Force Instruction (AFI) 35-101 and DoD Instruction (DoDI) 5400.17.
 
Our Social Media Policy
 
Transparency and Content Management (DoDI 5400.17, Section 3.2.f):
 
  • Social media account managers will not remove content unless it:
    • Contains factual or typographical errors.
    • Violates laws, policies, terms of service, or user agreements.
    • Presents operational or information security (OPSEC) concerns.
  • Any content removal will be publicly acknowledged, providing context and clarification to avoid misinterpretation of intent.
  • Content removal will not be used to:
    1. Avoid embarrassment.
    2. Stifle or silence discussion on controversial topics.
    3. Mislead users into believing an issue is minor or insignificant.

Comment Policy (AFI 35-101, Section 5.1):

  • Moderated Forum: All comments are reviewed to ensure compliance with our rules.
  • Respectful Engagement: Participants are expected to engage respectfully with each other, the Air Force, and its employees. Abusive language, personal attacks, hate speech, or offensive content will not be tolerated.
  • Prohibited Content:
    • Spam or off-topic comments.
    • Promotions of products, services, or copyrighted material.
    • Links that do not contribute to the discussion.
    • Unsupported accusations or defamatory remarks.
  • Privacy and OPSEC: Avoid sharing personal information (e.g., Social Security numbers, phone numbers) or sensitive details that could compromise security (e.g., troop movements, operational plans).

Other Key Guidelines:

  • No Endorsements: References to non-government entities, products, or services are not endorsements by the Air Force.
  • Not for Legal or Business Use: Social media platforms are not avenues for reporting criminal activity, filing complaints, or submitting business proposals.

Engagement Expectations

We encourage open discussion and welcome diverse viewpoints. However, all interactions must:

  1. Stay relevant and constructive, supporting meaningful dialogue related to our mission.
  2. Reflect professionalism and respect, even in disagreements.
