  • Initiative draws large feedback, widespread support

    The Air Force Materiel Command’s AFMC We Need initiative continues to make steady progress, with project teams completing phase two visits to AFMC operating locations this week. The initiative aims to identify both the areas in which the command excels as well as the challenges and opportunities for improvement across the mission footprint. Command-wide survey and interview findings will be analyzed to create a series of recommendations for AFMC leadership review and potential action at the conclusion of the study.
  • AFMC We Need team to conduct focus groups across enterprise

    The Air Force Materiel Command’s AFMC We Need team will travel to operating locations across the command footprint to conduct in-person focus groups beginning July 22. The AFMC We Need enterprise-wide initiative, launched in late June, seeks inputs and recommendations from AFMC civilian and military Airmen that can help posture the command to best support the National Defense Strategy today and in the decades to come.

Lab Life brings listeners behind the scenes with Air Force scientists, engineers and professionals who are developing tomorrow’s technologies today.
  • Cybersecurity Town Hall emphasizes information protection for supply chain, acquisition

    The importance of protecting the Defense Department’s controlled unclassified information during acquisition and contracting processes was stressed during a series of Cybersecurity Town Hall events hosted by the Air Force Materiel Command May 7. The event served as an opportunity to educate the acquisition and cybersecurity workforce on the implementation of the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement Clause 252.204-7012, Safeguarding Covered Defense Information and Cyber Incident Reporting, and focused on information protection throughout the supply chain and the responsibility of stakeholders across DOD and industry.
  • CPI office augments mission effectiveness, efficiency

    The Air Force Materiel Command Continued Process Improvement program leverages Airmen innovation and new technologies to create a continuous cycle of process improvement and change in the service culture. The goal of the program is to improve mission execution while reducing costs, which ultimately maximizes customer, i.e. taxpayer, value of the force.
  • AFMC-wide virtual hiring fair attracts new talent

    The Air Force Materiel Command hosted its first Virtual Hiring Event April 10 to fill more than 400 immediate vacancies across the enterprise footprint. Approximately 30 job offers were made during the event with hiring managers also identifying 60 additional members for subsequent interviews. An additional benefit resulting from the event is the large number of resumes now on hand that are being screened and placed in a repository for future opportunities.

    To launch the Air Force Materiel Command Year of Innovation campaign, Air Force Maj. Gen. Carl Schaefer, AFMC deputy commander, offers his perspectives on innovation and the innovation culture required to research, develop, test, field and sustain Air Force systems and platforms to outpace the adversary.
