Boston ‘bluing’ trip highlights synthetic biology, biotechnology for AFRL team
Dr. Maneesh Gupta (rt.) discusses biotechnology with a member of the Ginkgo Bioworks foundry team during an Air Force Research Laboratory ‘bluing’ trip, April 24. The visit to the Ginkgo foundry exposed the AFRL researchers to state-of-the-art biotechnology that enables large scale biological engineering and biomaterial design. The diversity of the bluing tour stops, including the visit to Ginkgo, spanned military research, academia and industry, and provided an interesting perspective on the broad intersections between ongoing research efforts in DoD and the wider biotechnology domain.
