USAFSAM unveils portrait of former surgeon general
Lt. Gen. (ret) Thomas W. Travis (left), who served as the 21st Surgeon General of the United States Air Force, and Lt. Gen. Mark A. Ediger, current Air Force Surgeon General, unveil a portrait of Travis to hang in the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine during a ceremony here Oct. 24, 2016. The School -- part of the Air Force Research Laboratory's 711th Human Performance Wing -- displays portraits of all past Air Force Surgeons General. Travis served in the role from July 2012 until June 2015, and also served as the School's commander from July 2001 to February 2003. "I'm very, very proud of my history with the School," Travis said at the ceremony, "during my times as a student, my time as commander and my time as the surgeon general.
