Wireless Security

Senior Airman Lawrence Gerosa, a Cybersecurity Technician assigned to the 88th Air Base Wing Cybersecurity office for the past three years, demonstrates a software package provided by the Navy called “Flying Squirrel.” Teams from the wing cybersecurity office conduct driving tours of both Areas A and B of Wright-Patterson AFB while conducting a procedure known as “War Driving,” where the software picks up packets of information that are transmitted by wireless devices in order to create a map of wireless devices located on base. The process helps eliminate false wireless connection points and ensures information is not transmitted in areas where it is prohibited, such as in secure facilities.
