Chapel One Memorial Marker Dedication
Col. Kenneth Crooks, Air Force Materiel Command 88th Air Base Wing Chaplain and Col. John Devillier, Air Force Materiel Command 88th Air Base Wing Commander unveil the memorial marker dedication for Chapel One next to building 219 at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, May 1, 2015. The Chapel One was constructed in 1942 and was taken-down in 2014. Many visited it during it’s life span and it will be truly missed among the community. The memorial marker dedication reads, “On this site stood the beloved ‘Chapel One’ serving the constitutional right to the free exercise of religion for airmen and their dependents. Through good times and bad, in personal events and national crises, it provided a place for celebration and solace. It was a sanctuary…A reminder of the holy.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Michelle Gigante)
