The Advanced Composite Cargo Aircraft (ACCA) successfully completed its first test flight, prompting its new Air Force–official designation as the X-55A. Developed by AFRL and Lockheed Martin, the craft is a modified Dornier 328J, the fuselage and vertical tail of which were removed and replaced with novel structural designs based on advanced composite materials fabricated via low-temperature, out-of-autoclave curing.
