Ultra-High-Purity Synthesis Improves Nanotube Materials
A cross-sectional, transmission electron micrograph view of a silicon carbide wafer after it underwent ultra-high-purity synthesis. The platinum protective cap is applied to preserve the sample surface during TEM preparation. The vertically aligned multiwall nanotubes form into the sample surface and have nominal diameters of 20 nm.
