First air cargo delivery re-enacted
Lecia Lamphere and Philip McKeachie speak during a reception Oct. 2, 2010 at Rickenbacker International Airport following a reenactment of the world’s first cargo flight. The original flight took place Nov. 7, 1910, and was made by Wright Company pilot Phil Parmelee in a Wright “B” Flyer from Huffman Prairie Flying Field (now part of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base) to Columbus, Ohio. Ms. Lamphere and Mr. McKeachie are descendents of Phil Parmelee and were joined by Wright Brothers family members to celebrate the birth of the modern air cargo industry.
