WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- To celebrate America Recycles Day Nov. 15, the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Recycling Center, Bldg. 293, Area A, will host tours from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. America Recycles Day is a Keep America Beautiful initiative.

“It can be very eye-opening to see what happens to your cardboard, paper, cans and bottles after you drop them off,” said Joshua Burton, Recycling Center operations supervisor.

Bins outside the center, which is located beneath the water tower on Newark Street and Communications Boulevard, are open 24 hours for drop-off of the aforementioned items, plus glass, plastics, “heavy” paper like beverage cartons, household metal items, used oil and certain types of batteries.

“Please help us get your recyclables to where they need to go,” Burton said, “as diverting them from the landfill and turning them back into something useful helps us all.”

He pointed to the results of a recent trash audit in which a building’s trash was more than 50 percent recyclable paper.

The center also welcomes toner cartridges, packed in the accompanying box, as these bring revenue to keep the center running.

Additional drop-off locations open 24/7 include:
