AFLCMC directorates sponsor Pumpkin Chuck to raise funds Published Sept. 8, 2016 By Amy Rollins Skywrighter Staff WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The 12th Miami Valley Combined Federal Campaign Pumpkin Chuck will be held Oct. 21 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. near the flight line of the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, accessible for competitors through the Spinning Road entrance. The event is being sponsored by AFLCMC/EN-EZ directorates. The application, rules, frequently asked questions, types of chuckers, event description and schedule of events are online at https://cs.eis.afmc.af.mil/sites/AeroEngRes/PumpkinChuck/ default.aspx. To participate, build a machine and enter in one of three categories: Class A: large pumpkin chuck with 8- to 10-pound pumpkins in a distance competition ($30 donation); Class B: small pumpkin chuck with 2-pound pumpkins in distance competition (machine size limited; $25 donation); and Class C: human-powered accuracy competition (chucker and pumpkin provided; $20 donation). Participants also may enter the Class P pumpkin pie baking contest by providing two 9-inch pies. Returning this year is an interoffice pumpkin cream pie speed eating contest. Enter with a coworker and try to devour a pie as quickly as you can for a $10 donation. The event also will include food trucks. The CFC officially kicks off Oct. 5.
