Area A water advisory lifted Published Aug. 15, 2016 By Contributed story 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio -- The advisory on Area A drinking water has been lifted because continued sampling has consistently shown the water is safe for all populations to consume. “We truly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we continue to ensure the quality of the installation's drinking water,” said Col. Bradley McDonald, 88th Air Base Wing commander. “We will steadfastly continue monitoring our wells to ensure we protect our environment and keep our drinking water safe.” Moving forward, base officials will continue sampling the water distribution wells to monitor and ensure contaminant levels are below the health advisory level established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. As part of the water advisory initially instituted in May, both drinking water production wells in areas where perfluorochemicals, or PFCs, have been detected, were taken offline. Drinking water for Area A is now taken from wells that are away from the PFC-known areas. Continued monitoring of the wells will ensure PFCs do not migrate undetected into current production wells. “We will continue working very closely with the City of Dayton, Miami Conservancy District and Ohio EPA to ensure the drinking water remains safe,” McDonald said.
