Inspection to measure WPAFB Emergency Management & Readiness Skills Published July 23, 2013 WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB, Ohio -- Air Force Materiel Command will conduct a Consolidated Unit Inspection from July 29 to Aug. 2 and Aug. 12 to 23. The readiness and emergency management portion of the inspection will take place from July 29 to Aug. 2. Exercises measuring the base's ability to respond to emergency situations may occur at any time during this week. Most base operations should continue with minimal disruption; however visitors and staff should expect and plan for delays due to periods of tightened security. Potential exercise scenarios may generate responses by fire, rescue, security forces, specialized teams and other emergency responders. Those working or living on and near the base in Areas A, B and Kittyhawk may hear use of "Giant Voice" loudspeakers to make announcements or observe various colors of smoke. Most visible exercise activity will take place during normal daylight duty hours. With the exception of increased traffic congestion at base gates, exercise activity should be transparent to the general public. "Through our base level exercise program, we're prepared for this moment and now is the time to show that we are ready," said Carmen Riches, 88 Air Base Wing chief of exercises.
