America Recycles Day - Base tours promote recycling benefits Published Nov. 13, 2013 By John Scaggs 88th Air Base Wing/Public Affairs WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Nov. 15 marks America Recycles Day, and the work force on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base can learn more about recycling today through tours of the base's recycling center. The recycling center is located in Bldg. 293, Area A, underneath the water tower on Newark St. and Kuglics Blvd. No reservations are needed. Tours will begin at 8 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. For more information call 257-5060. Wright-Patterson AFB's recycling center accepts deliveries for the recycling yard for bulk metals and metal appliances weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Curbside drop-off for routine recyclables, to include cans, cardboard, paper, plastic bottles and oil, can be done anytime behind the recycling center. America Recycles Day, a program of Keep America Beautiful, is a nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. Since 1997, Department of Defense installations have joined communities across the country to celebrate recycling efforts. The purpose of America Recycles Day is to continue to promote the social, environmental and economic benefits of recycling and encourage more people to join the movement toward creating a better natural environment.
