Lights ... camera ... accolades.

The spotlight shone upon broadcasters within the 88 Air Base Wing Public Affairs visual information division following the April 25 announcement that their documentary entitled "Life Cycle Management Center: Our Story (Part 1)" earned first place in the Department of Defense Visual Information Production Awards documentary category.

Visual information contributors Matthew Clouse and Jim Mitchell, along with 1st Lt. Nathaniel Thuli from the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, created a video that outlined the history, evolution and mission of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, which is headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The documentary can be viewed at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tlK88vaThk.

Among those at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base who were pleased to hear the announcement was the AFLCMC commander, Lt. Gen. C. D. Moore II.

"Our broadcasters, along with Lieutenant Thuli, took a communication idea and came up with a creative way to tell AFLCMC's story using the power of video media," Moore said. "It has been a valuable tool in educating other Air Force major commands as well as other branches within our armed forces. It's inclusion on YouTube also is explaining our mission to a global audience.

"The award is appropriate for all the hard work that went into this five-minute production, and I look forward to similar great things with part two coming out soon," the general added.

The visual information division also earned third place honors in two additional categories:
     > Training and Education category -- "Are You Ready to Meet the Board?" This production provides an overview of how active-duty promotion and award boards operate. It also offers guidance on preparation, presentation and uniform requirements. Key contributors were Clouse, Mitchell, Ken LaRock, and Brian Duke.
     > Public Service Announcement category - "Hang Up and Drive." This production explains the consequences of using a cell phone while driving on base. Key contributors were Clouse and Airman 1st Class Nick Dastas.

The Visual Information Production Awards program recognizes the best DOD visual information productions achieving the official communication requirements of a military component or subordinate organization.
