The 434th Air Refueling Wing from Grissom Air Reserve Base in Indiana will land their KC-135R Stratotankers here and taxing to their new temporary home May 27.

The aircraft are coming to Wright-Patt during a planned 45-day runway construction project.

Grissom's runway will close June 1 for a $3.2 million project to repair their 12,500 runway. The wing will also bring personnel to support aviation training and alert mission.

The main flying mission for the 434 ARW is to provide mid-air refueling to long-range bomber, fighter and cargo aircraft. The standard air crew is pilot, co-pilot and a boom operator that can pass 150,000 pounds of transferable fuel.
