AFRL Memorial Service to honor fallen soldiers

The Air Force Research Laboratory Sensors Directorate will hold a Roll Call Memorial Service, at the National Museum of the United States Air Force outdoor Memorial Park on May 23, beginning at 9 a.m.

This service will honor all local Miami Valley region U.S. service members who perished while serving in the United States Armed Forces in conflicts from WWII to present day.

"The tribute is a reminder of the brave sacrifices made by a few for so many," said Dr. Monica Allen, an AFRL Electronics Engineer and one of this year's Memorial Service planners. "We are humbled to provide this small acknowledgment for these remarkable American heroes."

Many speakers and dignitaries will be participating in the event. Those featured include, opening remarks from Dr. Michael Deis, Director, Sensors Directorate, AFRL. A Memorial Day address from Col. Cassie Barlow, Commander, 88 Air Base Wing, WPAFB and guest speaker, retired Maj. Gen. Edward Mechenbier, a former Vietnam POW.

The event is open to the public and all are invited to attend.
