The 2013 Air Force Marathon medal was named one of the top 25 medals in the nation by Marathon & Beyond.

"We are honored to have our medal recognized by Marathon & Beyond," said Race Director Robert Aguiar. "We work very hard to ensure that we provide our runners with a medal that represents the spirit and pride of the Air Force."

Every year, a panel of running industry experts chooses the top 25 marathon medals in the nation from hundreds of submissions. This year, the top 25 medals came from all across the United States and from many different marathons. The panel recognized the 2013 Air Force Marathon medal for its patriotism and reverence.

"There's something to be said for the reverence to service and nationalism in the medal," said panelist Brian Kelly.

The Air Force Marathon honors a different aircraft each year by featuring them on the medals and the runner shirts. The 2013 featured aircraft was the C-130J 'Super Hercules' and the 2014 medal will feature the F-35A 'Lightning II'.

"Our medal is very popular among our runners," said Mr. Aguiar, "They love finding out what the featured aircraft will be on the medal and many runners have their favorite medals from previous years."

The Air Force Marathon 5K, 10K and half marathon have already sold out in record time and organizers anticipate the full will sell out soon. Runners can register for the 2014 Air Force Marathon on the race's website, www.usafmarathon.com.

Runners interested in a half or full marathon spot on a charity partner team should go to the Air Force Marathon website for further details.
