AFIT Welcomes New Commander and Vice Chancellor

Lt Gen David Fadok, Commander and President, Air University served as the presiding officer of a Change of Command Ceremony on 12 Jun 2014 at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). The ceremony honored AFIT's outgoing Commander and Vice Chancellor, Col Timothy Lawrence and welcomed his replacement, Col Doral "Ned" Sandlin. As Commander and Vice Chancellor, Col Sandlin is responsible for guiding and directing the military activities at AFIT.

Col Sandlin earned his master's degree at AFIT in Logistics Management in 2006. He is a second generation AFIT alum as his father, Dr. Doral "Sandy" Sandlin, earned his degree at AFIT in Aeronautical Engineering in 1961. Col Sandlin earned his doctorate at The Ohio State University in Business Logistics through the AFIT Civilian Institutions Faculty Pipeline program. He is also an Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management and Logistics within AFIT's Graduate School of Engineering and Management.

The mission of AFIT is to advance air, space, and cyberspace power for our armed forces, the Nation, and its partners by providing relevant defense-focused technical graduate and continuing education, research, and consultation. AFIT accomplishes this mission through three resident schools: the Graduate School of Engineering and Management, the School of Systems and Logistics, and The Civil Engineer School. AFIT also manages all Air Force health, line, legal, and chaplain graduate education at civilian institutions.
