Installation and Mission Support Center (Provisional) to activate Aug. 8

An Aug. 1 memorandum signed by Air Force Secretary Deborah James and Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh III indicates that effective Aug. 8, Air Force Materiel Command will activate Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center (Provisional) at the interim location of Joint Base Andrews-Naval Air Facility in Washington, D.C.

Maj. Gen. Theresa Carter will serve as the AFIMSC(P) commander. The center's permanent location will be determined in accordance with Air Force Instruction 10-503, Strategic Basing, and the National Environmental Policy Act.

Headquarters Air Force, major commands and future subordinate organizations of AFIMSC(P) will temporarily provide personnel to assist the AFIMSC(P) commander. She will identify the requirement for subject matter experts capable of developing the center staff functional requirements and processes for AFIMSC.

The following Field Operating Agencies will be re-assigned to AFMC on Oct. 1: Air Force Civil Engineer Center; Air Force Installation Contracting Agency; Air Force Financial Services Center; and the Air Force Security Forces Center.

Additionally, these organizations will realign to AFMC on Oct. 1: the Air Force Personnel Center's Services Directorate and the Air Force Cost Analysis Agency's Financial Management Center of Expertise. Initial assignment will be to AFMC with attachment to the AFIMSC(P) for the sole purpose of standing up and integrating into AFIMSC.
