Take advantage of Force Support Squadron activities Published Sept. 19, 2014 By Lt. Col. Kim Norman 88th Force Support Squadron commander WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Oh. -- Like many organizations across the base, the 88th Force Support Squadron has seen its share of reduced budgets and manpower. However, the impact of those reductions translates a little differently than in other organizations. For many of FSS beloved activities and programs, it means that we need to "pay our own way" -- we must generate enough funds to pay our own bills or risk being closed, reduced or consolidated. So here is my plea to you: If you value the amazing FSS programs and activities we have at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, such as our outstanding golf courses (45 holes), Alien Alley (the second most active 20 lane bowling center in the United States), the indoor tennis courts, our three pools, our new state-of-the-art Consolidated Hobby Complex, Outdoor Recreation, and the fabulous Wright-Patterson Club and Banquet Center, then please support them whenever you can. The more you support our on-base activities, the more we can do to support you, your coworkers and your families. Need ideas? Here are a few: bring your friends to First Fridays; get your camping gear from Outdoor Rec; have a birthday party at the bowling alley; have your wingman event at Bass Lake Lodge; order your awards, shadow boxes, flag cases and T-shirts from the Consolidated Hobby Complex; break away for lunch and try Wings' new soup and salad bar, or go to one of our other on-base food establishments; and consider the club for wedding banquets and retirements -- they are experts in event planning and catering. These are just a few ideas. There are so many more ways that you can help keep the doors open at all of your favorite FSS facilities so that we can continue to do what we love, and that is to support you! You can find out more about what we offer by going to www.88thfss.com or visiting our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/88fss. You can also download the new "MyAirForceLife" or MyMC2 Mobile Apps from your App Store on your smartphone or tablet. The Wright-Times, published every other month, also provides information on an array of activities and upcoming events. We have some fantastic people and programs, all for you. Communicate with our activity managers and tell us what kind of programs you'd like to see and try to keep your business on base when you can.
