Retiree Appreciation Day set for Oct. 24 Published Oct. 17, 2014 By Contributed story WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Wright-Patterson Air Force Base's 2014 Retiree Appreciation Day is set for Oct. 24 from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Hope Hotel. Hundreds of military retirees, spouses and widows/widowers are expected to attend. The base Retiree Activities Program Office wants retirees to keep themselves up to date on the latest information with reference to medical, legislative and benefit matters, said director Paul Moore. Organizers hope it will be a mirror image of 2013's occasion. The free annual event, open to all branches of the military and held to recognize retirees for their service, will offer information on key topics of interest. No reservation is needed. The event will include between 50 and 60 information and provider booths, open concurrent with a $8.95, inclusive buffet lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; medical screenings; flu and pneumonia shots; and door prizes. Refreshments will be offered as soon as the doors open at 7:30 a.m. until 8:15 a.m., when the opening ceremony will occur.
