Registration open for final Focus Week of the year Published Oct. 17, 2014 By Amy Rollins Skywrighter Staff WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Communicating more effectively, delegating successfully as a manager and mastering business writing basics are key work-related skills about to get another boost as the final Focus Week of 2014 is offered Oct. 27-31 at the 88th Air Base Wing. Registration is open and continues until the day before each course is held. Some of the course descriptions are: › Oct. 28 - Organizational Skills for the Overwhelmed/ Time Management): This eight-hour class will help participants to effectively learn better organization skills through first learning efficient training tools and tips to help them reach their goals. › Oct. 30 - Business Writing Basics for Professionals: Students will gain better awareness of common spelling and grammar issues in business writing, review basic concepts in sentence and paragraph construction, and know the basic structure of agendas, email messages, business letters, business proposals and business reports. › Oct. 29 - Coaching and Mentoring Skills for Leadership Success: Coaching, mentoring and the GROW model will be defined during this eight-hour course for managers and supervisors. Other courses will include Emotional Intelligence, So You Want to Get Promoted?, Keys for Team Effectiveness, EIM Sharepoint Member and Owner, Cyber Security Fundamentals, Intro to Microsoft One Note, Become a Better Communicator, Adobe Acrobat XI Pro: Forms and more. "It is still important, in this climate, to provide quality, low-cost - in this case, no-cost- education services for our population," said Marcia Baker, management and program analyst, Education and Training, and the 88 ABW Focus Week coordinator. Everyone in the ABW - military, civilian and contractors (as the contract allows) - is encouraged to participate in one or more courses. All participants will be invited to complete evaluations after each class, which will be sent via email after course completion.
