Road projects will affect Areas A, B during November, December Published Oct. 31, 2014 By Contributed story WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio, -- Starting Nov. 3, construction will begin on Freedom Drive. Due to the failed pavement, the road requires full-depth replacement and will require one lane to be closed while the contractor is working on it. Access to the homes along the road will be maintained at all times. Each lane will take approximately three weeks, and the entire project is scheduled to be complete on Dec. 12. Refer to the map for information on the project location. Schuster Road to close for repair work Starting on Nov. 3, Schuster Road will be closed (at Cooper Street intersection) for the repair of a leaking water line. The project is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 8. Please refer to the map for information on the project location, road closure information and detour route. planned Paving projects in Areas A and B There are three paving projects that will be starting in Area A over the next couple of weeks. First, parking lot 1A (outside Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command) will be accomplished in two phases, each doing half the lot. Phase 1 will begin Nov. 3 and be complete by Nov. 12. Phase 2 will start immediately after Phase 1 is complete and is scheduled to be finished by Nov. 28. Next, a project on Locust Street will begin on Nov. 3. This project includes widening and resurfacing Locust Street along with extending the road to create a new intersection with Spruce and a second access point into the Kittyhawk Area. Completion date of this project is Dec. 12. Lastly, Skeel Avenue will be resurfaced from Wright Avenue to near Bldg. 206 starting on Nov. 10. This project is scheduled to be complete on Nov. 14. Please refer to the map for information on the project locations. There will be no longterm closures or detours, but there may be short-term lane closures for the safety of the construction crew and motorists. Flaggers will be present to safely move traffic around the paving crews. There are three paving projects that will be starting in Area B over the next couple of weeks. First, starting on Nov. 3, a resurfacing project on D Street from Fifth Street to Monohan Way will begin. This project also includes curb and sidewalk replacement. The road will be closed (and parking restricted) from Nov. 8 through Nov. 11 with the road back open to normal traffic and parking on Nov. 12. The overall project will be complete Nov. 21. Next, starting on Nov. 10, a project will begin to resurface the drives around the wind tunnel complex. This project is scheduled to be complete on Nov. 21. Lastly, starting on Nov. 10, a project on K Street will begin. The project will include doing full-depth replacement in the area from Fifth Street to Bldg. 52, which will require the closure of one lane. Northbound traffic will be maintained, and southbound traffic will be detoured to H Street. Please refer to the map for information on the project locations.
