Base runs provide fun ways for participants of all ages to stay fit Published Dec. 5, 2014 By Diane Kofoed 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- A group of approximately 200 runners, walkers and strollers gathered on Thanksgiving morning outside of Dodge Gym in Area A for the eighth annual Turkey Trot. The event consisted of 5K (3.1 miles) and 10K (6.2 miles) fun runs. According to event organizer Taz Peterson, base fun runs are meant to facilitate fun, noncompetitive environments to help participants stay fit. "We want all fitness levels to feel comfortable participating. We welcome families. Some who run bring pets to jog with them, and we allow families with younger children to have the kids bring their bikes and ride along while parents run," Peterson said
