Education exchange between Wright-Patt, Sinclair moves ahead Published Jan. 30, 2015 By Michele Eaton 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio. -- In a ceremony held Jan. 22 at Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Col. John Devillier, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base commander, and Sinclair President and CEO Dr. Steven Johnson, signed a certificate of education exchange, taking the next step in formalizing a new partnership between the two organizations. "Over the past year, we've set out to find new alternatives on-and off-base to form mutually beneficial partnerships," said Devillier. "This collaboration is a great example of how working together to meet one another's needs can improve resource stewardship." Sinclair Fire Training students will use Wright-Patterson AFB's fire department burn tower, fire apparatus and equipment to meet educational training requirements needed to complete their education or certification. In return, Sinclair will provide professional employee development training at no cost to base employees and will also provide required hazardous waste operations and emergency response training to base fire department personnel. "This is all about leveraging resources," said Johnson. The collaboration is part of an Air Force community partnership program, P4, which allows agencies on the installation and community leaders to develop ways to leverage their capabilities and resources to reduce costs or risks by finding shared value. P4's ultimate goal is to enhance Air Force mission viability and improve Airman quality of life.
