Daily Burn: Air Force Marathon one of the "Best 15 Fall Marathons" Published Feb. 24, 2015 By Rick Perron USAF Marathon Office WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The Air Force Marathon has been named one of the "15 Best Fall Marathons in the U.S." by the popular fitness web site, Daily Burn. The site lists a relatively flat course, flyovers and historical aviation sites as reasons for the honor. This is the second year in a row the race has received this recognition. "We're so honored to be named to this list." said Race Director Rob Aguiar, "It really is a testament to the team here at Wright-Patterson including our wonderful volunteers who put on an event that runners really enjoy and keep coming back to." Registration for the Air Force Marathon is currently open but slots are selling fast. The 5K and 10K events are 75 percent and 80 percent sold out respectively and the half marathon is 60 percent sold. "We're very excited about the 2015" race noted Aguiar, "We're going to be adding some new things to the event, especially in the area of technology that is going to allow our runners connect to the race in new ways." The Air Force Marathon, now in its 19th year will be held on September 19, 2015 at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio. Race weekend includes the Sports and Fitness Expo, held September 17 and 18 at the Wright State University Nutter Center; The Breakfast of Champions, held September 18 at the Holiday Inn Dayton Fairborn; a Gourmet Pasta Dinner, also held September 18 at the National Museum of the United States Air Force as well as a Finish Line Festival and After Party. The 5K is held September 18 on the campus of Wright State University. All marathon events are open to the public and the race is a Boston Marathon Qualifying event.
