Bringing smiles to the faces of children dealing with illness was the goal of the Air Force Research Laboratory's Small Business office, during an October 9 visit to the Dayton Children's Hospital.

"The objective was to help little [ones fight their way] through everyday battles," said Oswaldo Delacruz, AFRL SBIR program manager. "In turn, working together as a unit towards a common goal has helped the unit bond together."

This was the first year the small business office delivered Air Force bears to patients at Dayton Children's Hospital. Because it was so successful, Delacruz said, "We are looking into integrating this type of community outreach into our office culture annually."

"We appreciate the support that we receive from the community," said Karen Muller, child life manager at Dayton Children's. "Special visitors certainly help brighten the hospital stay for our patients as well as our staff."
