Wright-Patt Top 3 hosts Speed Mentoring event Published April 25, 2016 By Jim Mitchell 88 ABW Public Affairs Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio -- Senior NCOs at Wright-Patterson have a unique opportunity for mentoring and insight at an event to be hosted at the Wright-Patterson Club on May 8th from 3 p.m. - 4 p.m. Dubbed "Speed Mentoring", the session allows Master Sgt. selects, Master Sgts. and Senior Master Sgts. to pick the brains of Chief Master Sgts. from across the installation that come from a variety of career fields and experience. Similar to other "speed" events, participants will spend a few minutes talking to one Chief Master Sgt. before switching seats and moving to the next mentor. The mentee can ask any question they want, ranging from workplace issues, education, assignments, records or tips for becoming a better leader. Mentors have a wealth of knowledge and experience that organizers hope participants can learn from. "Looking back at my career, I wouldn't be where I am at today if it weren't for the mentors I have had, and still have" said Senior MSgt. Don Simpson, Communications and Information Directorate Superintendent, Air Force Institute of Technology. "From all my assignments, I've always had mentors that gave me guidance, helped me overcome difficult situations, given me extra perspectives and kept me grounded. For that, I am very thankful." The Air Force knows that the long-term health of the service depends on senior leaders developing and mentoring the next in line. The Wright-Patt Top 3 hopes to speed that process up by bouncing ideas back and forth, answering questions, and developing long-term professional relationships for the next generation of senior enlisted leaders. After the formal part of the Speed Mentoring event, there will be a social hour to share experiences and get to know other leaders from Wright-Patterson. Chief Master Sgts., Senior NCOs and Master Sgt. selects interested in attending the session should contact Senior Master Sgt. Don Simpson at don.simpson@afit.edu. The registration deadline is May 4.
