Under Secretary of the Air Force Matt Lohmeier visited the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, March 23, to gain a deeper understanding of the organization's critical role in national defense.

The visit provided the Under Secretary with a firsthand look at how NASIC addresses both service and national intelligence requirements by forecasting adversary developments in advance of their employment.

Throughout the tour, Lohmeier received a series of in-depth briefings from expert analysts on air, space, missile, and cyber threats facing the United States. The discussions emphasized the unique nature of NASIC's work, which involves analyzing and characterizing foreign weapon systems to provide predictive, foundational intelligence to warfighters, acquisition partners, and senior policymakers.

"The depth of analysis being accomplished at NASIC is foundational to our national defense and our ability to maintain a strategic advantage," Lohmeier stated. "To see how this team turns raw data into actionable, predictive intelligence reinforces the importance of their mission at every level."

During his visit, Lohmeier also met with NASIC commander, Col. Kenneth Stremmel, and his leadership staff, who highlighted the impact of these visits, noting they are crucial for ensuring the Department of the Air Force's strategic priorities are directly informed by the latest intelligence on adversary capabilities and intentions.

“Hosting the Under Secretary allowed us to demonstrate how we are tackling the toughest intelligence problems for the joint force,” Stremmel said. “We highlighted our team’s expertise and unique ability to deliver scientific and technical analysis not found anywhere else.”

The visit concluded with demonstrations of NASIC's analytical tools and labs, providing the Under Secretary with tangible insights into how the center turns unrefined data into the actionable intelligence that gives the nation its war-winning edge.
