Wright-Patt Launches Newcomers Site to Support Incoming Personnel Published Aug. 6, 2025 By Meghan Howard 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- New to Wright-Patt? There’s now a one-stop location to help you navigate where to go, what to do next, and who to contact—the new Wright-Patterson AFB Newcomers site. Created to assist those new to the installation in navigating the complexities of onboarding, the site provides answers to common questions ranging from managing Permanent Change of Station travel and settling in with family, to finding dining options and local recreational opportunities. “First impressions matter—especially when welcoming Airmen, civilians and families to one of the most complex and mission-diverse installations in the Air Force,” said Bob Purtiman, 88th Air Base Wing Public Affairs chief. “The Wright-Patterson AFB Newcomer Website was designed to support that first impression. The new site is more than a digital welcome mat; it’s a vital tool to connect people to resources, build understanding and set the tone for a successful transition into our community. This was a team effort, and we built it with one goal in mind: making sure every newcomer feels informed, supported, and valued from day one.” Developed in collaboration with agencies across the base including the 88th Force Support Squadron, 88th Security Forces Squadron, Military & Family Readiness Center, Civilian Personnel Office, Education & Training, and many others - the Newcomers site consolidates key information to support both incoming and current Wright-Patt personnel. The platform is designed to be dynamic, with updates made as guidance changes or new resources become available. The team behind the site welcomes your feedback. For questions, comments or suggestions on what newcomer information should be added email the 88th ABW/PA. To celebrate the launch, visit the site at www.wpafb.af.mil/newcomers. Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you online.
