The Air Force has announced its newest master sergeant selects — and the list includes 59 names from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Unit leaders and the base community gathered June 12 to celebrate the selectees at a release party held at the Wright-Patt Club.

U.S Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Michael Sierra, 88th Mission Support Group command chief, acknowledged the significant milestone the selectees had reached in their careers and the importance of their leadership in developing a culture that cares for Airmen.

"You have a roof over your house, and master sergeants, your job now is to protect that house," Sierra said pointing to his chevrons. "What do I mean by protect? To lead, train, care, guide, supervise, mentor, counsel, and advise all the other stripes in that house. Look out for your peers next to you and look out for your leadership above you."

"You have earned a seat at the table of being a senior enlisted member in the United States Air Force," Sierra concluded. "You are going to allow us to stay the world's greatest Air Force, take that responsibility to heart. Hold it tightly and dearly."

Col. Dustin Richards, 88th Air Base Wing and installation commander, congratulated the soon-to-be senior non-commissioned officers and thanked all the family members and teammates who came out in support of the selectees.

“I will tell you that you are coming into a time of great consequence right now,” Richards stressed. “We need you as leaders in this Air Force right now, we need you senior NCOs.”

This year, the Air Force selected 6,043 technical sergeants for promotion out of 25,805 eligible across the entire Air Force, a selection rate of 23.42%.
