412th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne) to Conduct Parachute Operations at Wright-Patterson Airfield

WRIGHT- PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – The 412th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne), a U.S. Army Reserve unit based in Columbus, Ohio, will conduct airborne operations at Wright-Patterson Airfield on Friday, March 14, 2025. The operation will feature parachute jumps by approximately 100 soldiers from the unit, supported by a KC-130J aircraft.

The first daylight jump is expected to occur around 3:45 p.m., involving approximately 100 jumpers and requiring three passes per aircraft. If necessary, a second daylight jump may follow at approximately 4:45 p.m.

The night jump is anticipated to begin around 8:15 p.m., with about 80 jumpers and again requiring three passes per aircraft. Should additional jumps be needed, a second night jump is tentatively scheduled for around 9:15 p.m.

The parachute operation may be delayed or cancelled based on weather conditions.

The airborne operation is an important part of the training and readiness efforts of the 412th Civil Affairs Battalion, which plays a vital role in supporting U.S. Army operations through civil military engagements. A brief suspensions of runway operations may occur as the jump aircraft depart and conduct operations.
