AFRL Engineers Collaborate With DoD Cyber Crimes Center Published Dec. 4, 2006 By Information Directorate AFRL/HE ROME, N.Y. -- AFRL's Steganographic Intelligence (STEGINT) group is collaborating with the Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Crime Center (DC3), Linthicum, Maryland, through research, transition, and information exchange sessions on steganographic technologies. The DC3 comprises three organizations: the Defense Cyber Crime Institute (DCCI), the Defense Cyber Forensics Laboratory (DCFL), and the Defense Computer Investigations Training Program. AFRL engineers provided hands-on training on laboratory-developed STEGINT tools that have transitioned to the DCFL and DCCI both to aid their computer investigations conducted for the DoD and to promote their research of better investigation methods. AFRL also provided the DC3 with steganographic threat data, test methods and data, tool evaluations, and embedding/detection methods. In return, DCCI representatives provided feedback regarding the transitioned STEGINT tools, information on the institute's latest developments, and copies of DCCI-developed tools. The information exchange between AFRL and the DC3 has enhanced the potential for collaboration on future research and development efforts.
