The Wright-Patterson Security Forces Combat Arms facility will host a second annual, all-Air Force pistol match Oct.15-19.

Participants will compete on the 25-meter, indoor range firing the government-issue M-9 pistol.

The best-scoring 10 percent of the competitors will receive elementary level Excellence in Competition medals, bronze devices that may be worn on the service uniform.

The competition is open to all active duty Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard members. Permissive temporary duty status is available to participants, and the event is open even to those with no prior qualification or experience with the 9 mm service pistol.

Combat Arms staff people will instruct participants on clearing and loading the weapon and will go over the match rules. The competition portions will consist of two strings of slow-fire, single-handed shooting of five rounds in 2-and-a-half minutes each; two strings of two-handed shooting of five shots in 20 seconds each; and 10 strings of single shots in 4 seconds each.

Firing will start and stop on commands, and rounds fired before or after the commands will be scored as misses. The target will be standard silhouette with graded areas.

For more information about the competition, call (937) 522-3060 or DSN 672-3060.
