Air Force Association, AFMC to co-host anniversary ball Published Aug. 29, 2007 WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- For the first time at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the annual celebration of the Air Force's birthday will be a shared venture between the local Air Force Association chapter and Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command. AFMC, along with the Wright Memorial-212 Chapter of the Air Force Association, will host the AFMC Air Force Anniversary Ball Sept. 7 at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. A reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. Dinner, presentation of awards and entertainment starts at 7 p.m. During the evening, the two agencies will recognize the base's annual award winners as well as recently deployed Airmen. Officials from Wright Memorial-212 Chapter will present three additional awards to individuals for their community and Air Force contributions. These include: - Former Ohio Senator Mike DeWine, scheduled to receive the Ambassador Award for his efforts as an effective ambassador for the Dayton/Miami Valley community in the areas of economic development, military and Air Force support, and political achievements. - Retired Gen. Gregory Martin, scheduled to receive the Heritage Award which recognizes the person who has impacted the military aerospace community at Wright-Patterson. - Retired Senior Executive Service member Robert May, scheduled to receive the Legacy Award which recognizes the Air Force civilian who made significant career contributions to the mission of Wright-Patt and/or the Dayton/Miami Valley community. As part of the overall festivities, the Wright Brothers Heritage Benefit golf tournament will be held at the base's Prairie Trace Golf Course Sept. 6.
