Command to show appreciation for liaison officers at International Ball Published Oct. 2, 2007 By Daryl Mayer 88 ABW Public Affairs W -- Preparations are well under way for the 28th Annual International Ball and this year's event, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at the National Museum of the United States Air Force, looks to be another gala evening. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling (937) 904-0002. Ticket costs for the black-tie ball vary from $30 to $50 based on the grade of the purchaser. The ball is open to the public. Every year, Air Force Materiel Command sponsors a ball to honor the community of more than 70 foreign liaison officers stationed at Wright-Patterson AFB in support of Security Assistance. "This is our opportunity to show our appreciation for our foreign liaison officers and the contributions they make to achieve our mutual success," said Brig. Gen. Joe Reheiser, Air Force Security Assistance Center commander. "They are not only the representatives of our vital international partners; they are also members of our team, our community and, in a sense, members of our Air Force family." There will be a receiving line during the social hour allowing guests to meet the senior foreign liaison officers from each of the 28 nations represented in the Dayton area. Dinner will be catered by the Wright-Patterson Club and Banquet Center and features a dual-entrée of crab-stuffed sole and filet mignon. A vegetarian option is available as well. The U.S. Air Force Band Strolling Strings from Washington, D.C., will perform again this year, as they have for all the previous 27 balls. Later, a disc jockey will provide music for dancing until midnight. "We're really excited about the tremendous support we've received to make this year's ball a success," said Lilah Frohman, International Ball co-chair. "We hope to have a great turnout from the base, as well as the community, since this is an extraordinary opportunity to interact with and show appreciation to our international partners. And with the international guest list, the entertainment and dancing is unrivaled."
