In an effort to raise awareness and educate communities about domestic violence, four Wright-Patterson helping agencies have joined forces to co-sponsor the workshop "A Call to Men," featuring guest speaker Tony Porter.

The base sexual assault response, family advocacy, Federal Women's Programs and Federally Employed Women are sponsoring the workshop that will take place 1from 0 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Hope Hotel and Conference Center.

Although this event is open to the public, men are especially encouraged to attend.
Porter, co-founder of The National Association of Men and Women Committed to Ending Violence Against Women, is an educator and an activist who has worked in the social justice arena for more than 20 years. He is internationally recognized for his efforts to end violence against women. Historically, women have been at the forefront in addressing the issue of violence against women, but it is essential that men play a primary role in the solution to end it, Porter has said. Base organizers said this workshop challenges men to reconsider their long-held beliefs about women in an effort to create a more just society.
