Dr. Lloyd Tripp, integration manager for the Air Force Research Laboratory's Human Effectiveness Directorate, Biosciences and Protection Division, received the Jerome H. Ely Human Factors Award for the best paper of the year.

The paper entitled +Gz Acceleration Loss of Consciousness: Time Course of Performance Deficits With Repeated Experience, was published in the 2006 edition of the Journal of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.

Dr. Tripp has been a major contributor to the field of aerospace human factors as a centrifuge subject, principal investigator and author. His research in G-induced loss of consciousness (GLOC) redefined the periods of absolute and relative incapacitation due to high acceleration forces and the effects of GLOC on a pilot's cognitive performance.

Dr. Tripp received the award at the 51st annual Meeting of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society meeting Oct. 2 at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Jerome H. Ely Human Factors Award recognizes excellence in papers published in each year's volume of the journal.
