Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition visits Wright-Patt Published Oct. 30, 2007 By Capt. Greg Justice 88 ABW Public Affairs WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- The Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Ms. Sue Payton, made a stop at Aeronautical Systems Center here Oct. 24. "Ms. Payton traveled to Wright Patterson on Wednesday as part of her continued interest in products, processes and people." said Mr. Gregory Stanley 312th / 326th Aeronautical Systems Wing Deputy Director. She was able to visit with several of the ASC wings examining some of ASC's latest acquisition initiatives. Ms. Payton was briefed on some of the 577th Aeronautical Systems Group programs including the F-35, F-135 and F-136 engines. In addition, she visited the 312th / 326th AESW where 1st Lt. Cary Wilson gave Ms. Payton a first hand look at the Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System "1st look, 1st shot" capability for the F-15, F-16 and F/A-18 fighters. "When Ms. Payton visited the 77th AESW, she wanted to know 'what problems we're solving for the Air Force'," said Mr. Richard D. Harstad Chief, Acquisition Environmental & Industrial Facilities Division. ASC/ENV manages and is responsible for all Air Force owned industrial plants nationwide. "We presented our processes for keeping this critical, but aging, industrial infrastructure in good working condition to support production and maintenance of many of the Air Force's weapon systems, such as the F-22, B-2, F-35, Global Hawk." said Mr. Harstad. At each stop along her tour she sought out recently deployed Airmen to personally offer thanks and welcome them home. Master Sgt. Bryon Patten of the 312th AESW and Capt. Tony Swain of the 326th AESW were two of the returning Airmen she met with at Doolittle Acquisition Center Complex.
